Private Opening at Mauritshuis

Exclusive experience at the Mauritshuis Museum in The Hague

You’re the guest of honor for a Tauck Exclusive dinner at the acclaimed Mauritshuis museum in Den Haag (The Hague), housed in a restored 17th-century mansion where a world-class collection of Dutch Golden Age paintings includes masterpieces by Rembrandt and Vermeer, including the iconic Girl with a Pearl Earring. Enjoy a personal welcome from a museum official who shares insights about the art you will see here, and dine to live music performed by students from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague.

Life on the Waterways

Dutch culture along The Netherlands' inland waterways

Much of The Netherlands was under water during medieval times; more than half the country has been reclaimed from the sea since then, and is maintained by a drainage system of windmills, dykes, dams and canals. Amsterdam, founded as a small fishing village on the mouth of the Amstel River, grew to become the trading center of a massive empire in the 17th century, evidence of which is seen today in its gabled mansions and inspired architecture along its canals. And pretty Enkhuizen is laced with canals and vestiges of its maritime roots, proudly recreated in the Zuiderzee Museum, whose historic structures and open-air exhibits showcase life in a Dutch fishing village from the 1880s to the 1930s.

Visit the Royal Delft Factory

Inside Delft Blue at the Royal Delft Experience

Founded in 1653, Royal Delft (Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles, or "The Porcelain Jar") is the only remaining factory of some 32 earthenware factories established in Delft during the 17th century that still produces iconic blue-and-white, hand-painted Delft Blue pottery according to centuries-old tradition. On your visit to the Royal Delft Experience, you'll tour the factory where craftsmen are busy producing the pottery; observe the painters’ skill and passion during a painting demonstration; view the Delftware on display at the Royal Delft museum; and enjoy afternoon tea.

Early opening visit to the Zuiderzee Museum

Stories of a bygone maritime culture at the Zuiderzee Museum

The Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen brings to life stories of the people who once lived and worked on the shores of the Zuiderzee – The Netherlands' former saltwater "Southern Sea," which was turned into the present-day freshwater lake known as the IJsselmeer by the completion of the Afsluitdijk (the great IJsselmeer Barrier Dam) in 1932. Through both the open-air Outdoor Museum – a living history village of its own with costumed interpreters and over 140 authentic historic buildings from the former Zuiderzee region – and the Indoor Museum's treasure-filled exhibits on the art, culture and heritage of the region, you'll step back in time to see, hear, feel, taste and smell everyday life on the Zuiderzee between the 1880s and 1930. With Tauck, you'll enjoy an early-opening visit to this extraordinary institution.

Small Group Departures

Our small group departures, averaging just 24 guests, are designed for travelers who want more time to experience each destination up close and personally. One of the benefits of small group travel is the personalized service and attention you’ll enjoy. Small groups enable our Tauck Directors to spend more time in the places you explore with more opportunities to connect with them. Smaller groups foster camaraderie and lasting friendships among like-minded travelers; you'll engage more closely with local experts and enjoy enhanced insider access, ease of travel and freedom to linger longer.

One Upfront Price

Get what you pay for and then some – about 100 cost components are included on every trip. Because we believe that when you travel, just about everything should be included.

Book Your Air

Before You Go

Required

Travel Documents, Booking and Deposits, and more

No matter where your destination may be, you should bring identification with you; a valid passport is always an appropriate form of identification. Contact your booking agent for information about all necessary documents required for your journey, such as passport and visa information or documentation required for transportation security measures.

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
