Experiences of a lifetime

Explore biblical lands untouched by time from atop Mt. Nebo, at sandstone Petra, and in ancient Roman cities surrounding Jordan’s Dead Sea shores. Sail up the River Nile on a journey that spans 5,000 years of history in the world’s oldest civilization. Visit pyramids, temples and tombs that speak volumes about the lives of Egyptian kings and queens, traveling by felucca, camel and small boat to places immortal and intriguing. And indulge in modern-day luxuries, enriched by the past, at premier hotels and resorts with views of the iconic sites you’ve dreamed of seeing.

Explore the awe-inspiring wonders of ancient Jordan and Egypt on this 13-day journey from the Dead Sea to Cairo, including a 4-night cruise on the Nile from Aswan to Luxor aboard a luxury riverboat. Begin in Amman, Jordan, with visits to the Amman Citadel and the Dead Sea, a popular vacation spot for its spas and historical sites... in Madaba visit St. George Church, famous for its Byzantine art and 6th-century mosaic map... re-discover the "lost" city of Petra, carved out of pink sandstone in a mountain pass at Wadi Musa... Board your luxury riverboat at Aswan for a Nile River odyssey to ancient Egyptian sites, including Abu Simbel, the grand temple built by Ramses II, with towering statues of himself... the Philae Temples, a breathtaking complex of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman temples and monumental statues on Agilika Island... the House of the Crocodile and the Castle of the Falcon at Kom Ombo... the dazzling tomb of Nefertari in the Valley of the Queens... the vast necropolis at the Valley of Kings and the tomb of Tutankammen... and the Avenue of Sphinxes at Luxor. Along the way, shore excursions include jeep safaris, camel rides, a visit to a Bedouin camp, dining at local restaurants, and an Arabic cooking lesson in Amman. Stay three nights at the exclusive Mena House in Giza, your base for exploring the Khufu Pyramid and the Great Sphinx with an expert Egyptologist, as well as treasures of Cairo, including the Hanging Church, the Al Rifai Mosque, the Khan El-Khalili Market, and the new Grand Egyptian Museum.

Oberoi Philae

Cruising the Nile aboard Oberoi Philae

Tauck’s "Jordan & Egypt: Petra to the Pyramids, Small Groups" features a 4-night cruise on the timeless River Nile aboard the Oberoi Philae. With only 22 luxury cabins, Oberoi Philae offers spacious private accommodations with standard luxury cabins (284 sq. ft.) and luxury suites (538 sq. ft.), large windows framing panoramic Nile River views; each ship’s amenities include a spa, fitness center, swimming pool, bar / lounge, cinema, elevator, high-speed wifi, library, and gaming area.

Abu Simbel – The Temples that Moved

Discover the remarkable temples of Abu Simbel, one of the most recognizable sites of Ancient Egypt.

Originally located on the banks of the Nile River for 3,000 years, in an incredible feat of engineering, Abu Simbel was dismantled and rebuilt in the 1960's and relocated on a higher hill to make way for the Aswan High Dam. The complex contains two temples; a large one containing four colossal statues of Ramesses II and a second, smaller temple thought to be dedicated to Queen Nefertari. The entrance way of the larger temple was designed in such a way that on two days of the year, October and February 22, the sun illuminates the inner sanctuary including three statues seated on a bench, one of which is the pharaoh himself.

4x4 adventure in Wadi Rum

Desert offroad adventure in Jordan's Wadi Rum

Jordan's Wadi Rum – popularly known as the “Valley of the Moon” – is home to some of the most stunning desert landscapes on Earth. Exploring its beautiful, lunar-like dunes and towering sandstone cliffs by four-wheel-drive vehicle is an absolutely unforgettable experience – and we invite you to do just that… and perhaps even ride a camel… on this thrilling off-road adventure!

The Valley of the Kings

Discovering Egypt's Valley of the Kings

Nestled in Egypt’s Theban hills west of the Nile River, near today’s Luxor, stands the Valley of the Kings – where, between the 16th and 11th centuries BC, complexes of tombs were cut out of the rock to house the remains of the Pharaohs and other nobles of Egypt’s New Kingdom, and prepare them for the afterlife. This UNESCO World Heritage Site contains more than 60 identified tombs and chambers. While many were once filled with treasures, most have been plundered through the ages… with the exception of that of the famous tomb of Tutankhamun, discovered intact in the 1920s, whose artifacts and remains have been removed and preserved. Visiting any of these tombs today is an experience not to be missed.

Required

Travel Documents, Booking and Deposits, and more

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
