Cultural journeys and expeditions

Beautiful, historic and richly resilient, Croatia's Dalmatian Coast has reemerged among Europe’s hottest holiday destinations.... offering golden sand beaches, vineyards bucolic with lemon trees, olives and vines, lavender fields fragrant from afar, limestone caves sculpted in time... the architectural artistry of the Venetian Republic... fortified towns and terra cotta tableaus that play out in palaces and promenades...

Walk with us to places immortalized with local color, sip and savor wines masterfully crafted, toast traditions and tales fondly shared, and become part of the stories, past and present, that make your vacation memories last lifetimes. Guided visits and shore excursions choices include revered UNESCO World Heritage sites as you cruise between Venice, the Dalmatian Coast and Montenegro. Discover the architectural masterpiece that is Venice... the Gothic Cathedral of St. Lawrence in Sibenik... the ancient Roman Palace of Diocletian in Split... the walled city of Dubrovnik, renowned for its Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque monasteries, palaces, fountains, and churches... the stunning harbor town of Kotor... and the lavender-scented island of Hvar, where Stari Grad Plain astounds with its intact ancient Greek land system. Le Lyrial, perfectly sized and ideally suited for island exploration where the bigger ships can’t go, charts a course for destinations of scenic serenity like the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro, where private shore excursions reveal maritime treasures and seaside settlements worthy of leisurely discovery. Two nights at a premier hotel in Venice bring the aura of daily life amidst architectural masterpieces, ancient squares and the ever-present lacework of canals.

Krka National Park, Croatia

Enjoying Croatia's natural treasures at Krka National Park

Croatia’s Krka National Park is a vast and primarily unaltered area of exceptional natural value, comprising some of the loveliest sections of the Krka River, as well as the lower course of the Čikola River. The park, home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, encompasses seven significant waterfalls; two of its most popular attractions are Skradinski Buk, a clear, natural pool with high waterfalls at one end and cascades at the other; and Roški Slap, the sixth waterfall of the Krka River. The national park also features hiking trails, boat trips, gift shops, a museum and restaurants, and the unpreserved ruins of several fortresses dating back to Roman times.

Discovering Dubrovnik

The treasures of Dubrovnik, Croatia's "Pearl of the Adriatic"

Preserved as the world’s largest restored UNESCO World Heritage Site, the medieval Old City of Dubrovnik on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast – nicknamed “the Pearl of the Adriatic” – has been blessed with a wealth of magnificent Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque churches, monasteries, palaces, squares, cobbled streets, fountains, and medieval ramparts, all cut from the same beautiful stone. Its treasures include the Dominican Monastery, the Rector’s Palace, Dubrovnik Synagogue and much more. You can explore this remarkably well-preserved city from above by cable car, or on guided walking tours of Old Town or along the ancient city walls.

San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice

An inviting private oasis in the Venetian Lagoon

Set on the private island of San Clemente in the Venetian Lagoon, San Clemente Palace Kempinski Venice is the ideal place to get away from it all amid the hustle and bustle of extraordinary Venice. Wrap yourself in the five-star luxury of its classic guest rooms overlooking centuries-old parkland or the lagoon itself… and enjoy the tranquility and world-class amenities of this exclusive oasis in the heart of it all…

Beautiful scenery! The ship was fabulous. Tour leaders fun, well informed, and very helpful. Food was great!

There are no options sold – no extra charges, no hidden costs, no "surprise" expenses.

What you need to know

Before You Go

Required

Travel Documents, Booking and Deposits, and more

No matter where your destination may be, you should bring identification with you; a valid passport is always an appropriate form of identification. Contact your booking agent for information about all necessary documents required for your journey, such as passport and visa information or documentation required for transportation security measures.

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.

This was our first small ship experience and we loved it! The Danieli Hotel in Venice is very close to St. Mark’s Square. Ship cabin was surprisingly comfortable and compact, with every amenity. Shore excursions in Croatia were amazing. We were concerned that in August it would be super hot, but it was not. Cruise directors terrific!

Most Memorable Moment:

Moments; cruising in and out of Venice with its amazing sights; city of Dubrovnik; fantastic sunsets at sea.

Venice sights and sounds were very interesting; we loved the gondola ride with singers. The ship was great: excellent meals, very comfortable rooms and responsive staff. Visiting the World Heritage Sites in Croatia was an awesome experience and provided a unique view into the deep history and culture of this part of the world.

Most Memorable Moment:

Our visit to the island of Hvar and the farewell lunch outdoors in Kanoba!
