Our Germany river cruise is highlighted with a stop during one of the most exciting times of the year, Oktoberfest.

Exclusively inclusive river cruising

Along the river Rhine… where mountains rise abruptly from the water’s edge, ancient castles perch aloft, keeping watch over comings and goings, gentle valleys and ancient winelands lure, spas give respite, cathedrals speak to powerful times, plains and woods catch the eye, and a river travels, connecting centuries of history, cities of the arts and crossroads of thought.

Discover the heritage and beauty of the River Rhine on our 7-night Basel – Amsterdam river cruise aboard one of Tauck's intimate riverboats. Visit the Netherlands, Germany, France and Switzerland, exploring regional delights in the historic cities, towns and countryside linked by the Rhine. Set your own pace with choices along the way: castle visits, bicycling, mountain heights, a spa resort and more. Read Less

Experience Munich's Oktoberfest

Celebrate the "real" Oktoberfest in Munich... although it's in September

There are “Oktoberfest” celebrations all over the world, but until you experience the one in Munich, where it began, you haven’t really “done” the true Oktoberfest – a unique mix of beer consumption, Bavarian feasting, live brass bands, communal singing, and dancing. It all started in 1810 when a royal couple invited the citizens to their wedding festivities on the fields in front of the city. Today Munich’s Oktoberfest – always held in September – is the largest festival in the world. Tauck has reserved seats for you in the center of the action, in one of the exclusive brewery tents... come join the party!

Brews and bites in Amsterdam

Embark on a "Brews and Bites Adventure" in Amsterdam

With all the wonderful things it has to offer visitors, amazing Amsterdam is an easy city to love, any time of the year. But as you visit the Dutch capital in autumn on your Oktoberfest cruise, you may fall even further under its spell... as you set off on a “Brews and Bites Adventure” walking tour that takes you sipping and tasting your way through some of the city's coolest breweries and eateries. Talk about Dutch treats...

Düsseldorf's craft breweries

A walk to discover the beers and brewing traditions of Düsseldorf

A city well-known for its beer in a country well-known for its beer, Düsseldorf is celebrated for its Altbier (“Old beer”) tradition, which preserves the pre-lager, pre-19th-century brewing method employing a warm, top-fermenting yeast to produce a hoppy, cleaner, crisper beer. Düsseldorf’s alt breweries are concentrated in the city’s historic center, the Altstadt, which has often been jokingly referred to as “Germany's longest bar” for its wealth of pubs and breweries… which you’ll explore during your visit.

By cog railway to Mt. Pilatus

To and from Mt. Pilatus by cogwheel train or gondola

Since the 1880s, the world’s steepest cogwheel train has been bringing travelers up and down Mt. Pilatus in Switzerland, climbing nearly 7,000 ft. from the edge of Lake Lucerne to the mountain's summit (Oberhaupt). On your visit to Lucerne, you'll take this thrilling ride that has you traveling upward at a 48° angle. Or, if the weather is uncooperative, you may make the ascent by gondola (cable car). Either way, getting there is definitely part of the fun, as you enjoy soaking up views of Alpine meadows and mountain streams, goats and flowers.

All Inclusive, One Upfront Price

Distinctively "inclusive" means just that – virtually every cruise cost is included in one upfront price, from shore excursions (private to Tauck), all gratuities, premier hotels on land stays, port charges and more. There are no options sold – no extra charges, no hidden costs, no "surprise" expenses.

Solo Traveler Savings

Traveling solo doesn't mean traveling alone – with Tauck, it means camaraderie, traveling with like-minded travelers who share similar interests. Solo Travelers enjoy special savings on all departures – no single supplement in Category 1; and on select departures in select cabins, savings of $1000 per cabin. See details on Pricing & Availability.

Book Your Air

International Air is additional. Contact Tauck for rates on international air for travel originating in Australia (subject to availability).

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
