Embark on a journey through a few of Central Europe’s capital cities on our Prague, Vienna, Budapest tours.

Along Europe's Scenic "Yellow Roads"

Hungary, Austria and the Czech Republic... once the heart of the old Habsburg Empire, traces are still to be found everywhere. Traditions... The legacies of long-ago empires are everywhere in and around the grand cities of Prague, Vienna and Budapest are still here to be explored, still to be embraced.

Some are brick-and-mortar, like the Baroque splendor you'll discover at Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, or the mysterious corners of Charles Bridge in Prague. Others are undying traditions that continue to define the culture long after the empire ceased to be... like the only way to make authentic Hungarian strudel. Experience the arts and culture that were the heart and soul of the Habsburg Empire... cruising legendary rivers... reveling in unrivaled palaces and cathedrals... enjoying a classical music concert... and savoring the timeless strüdel. Private lunch cruises in Budapest and Prague

Days 2 and 6

Get unique perspectives with private lunch cruises on the Danube in Budapest and the Vltava in Prague

For many of Europe's greatest cities, the rivers that flow through them are often their lifeblood and their defining feature. So it is with Hungary's capital, Budapest, which began as separate cities on opposite sides of the Danube River, now linked by the Chain Bridge; and Prague, ancient capital of the Czech Republic, split by the Vltava River but joined by the historic Charles Bridge (and 17 others!). And there's no better or more unique way to experience the heart of these timeless cities than aboard a private luncheon cruise... on the Danube through Buda and Pest, and on the Vltava through Prague's Lesser Town and Old Town.

Learn strüdel making in Budapest

Day 3

A Hungarian strüdel making demonstration and lunch at The First Strudel House of Pest

Strüdel preparation in Hungary is a tradition and art that dates back to the 15th century. Historically a festive meal that was often served for christening feasts, weddings and holidays, this delicacy was traditionally made by skillful hands from high quality ingredients and featuring a variety of fillings. Based in a historic 1812 building in the heart of Budapest, the First Strüdel House of Pest opened over a decade ago to carry on the tradition of preparing and serving authentic handmade Hungarian strüdel using an original recipe and only the finest ingredients. Learn how they do it with a hands-on demonstration, tasting and lunch at this popular Pest establishment.

Private classical concert in Vienna

Day 5

Attend a private classical music concert in Vienna, Europe's "city of music"

If you had to choose only one European city to musically explore, Vienna would be it. The center of European musical activity for centuries, Austria’s capital was at one time or another home to many of the continent’s greatest classical composers… including Haydn, Schubert, Brahms, Strauss, Mozart (several of whose former homes can be visited today), and Beethoven, who reportedly had 67 different addresses in Vienna over 35 years! Celebrate your first night in Europe’s musical capital with a private classical concert for Tauck guests only.

Hotel Imperial, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Vienna

Nights 3, 4 and 5

A palace reflecting Vienna's Imperial grandeur since 1873

The sumptuous surroundings of the Hotel Imperial, Vienna – a Luxury Collection Hotel – were originally created in 1863 as the Viennese residence of the Prince of Württemberg, and were transformed a decade later into the Hotel Imperial for the universal exhibition of 1873. The hotel gained renown around the world as a byword for discretion and impeccable service. Its unique location on Vienna's famous Ringstrasse, next to the Musikverein Vienna, makes it ideal for exploring the "Imperial City" and all of its magnificent sights.

Small Group Departures

Our small group departures, averaging just 24 guests, are designed for travelers who want more time to experience each destination up close and personally. One of the benefits of small group travel is the personalized service and attention you’ll enjoy. Small groups enable our Tauck Directors to spend more time in the places you explore with more opportunities to connect with them. Smaller groups foster camaraderie and lasting friendships among like-minded travelers; you'll engage more closely with local experts and enjoy enhanced insider access, ease of travel and freedom to linger longer.

Solo Traveler Savings

Traveling solo doesn't mean traveling alone – with Tauck, it means camaraderie on a journey with like-minded travelers who share similar interests, enjoying the spirit of travel that makes exploring the world a necessary part of life – and sharing the special travel experiences found on Tauck’s guided land trips and cruises that create lifetime memories. For 90+ years, solo travelers have found a special "travel" home with Tauck in destinations the world over – and we’re offering solo travelers an additional reason to travel with Tauck – special Solo Traveler Savings on select departures.

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
