The World Next Door

Time stands still in the Canadian Maritimes... preserving a way of life that honors the land and sea – and a cultural mix of early French, Irish, Scottish and English influences.

Time feels expansive in the Canadian Maritimes – where tides rise stories high, fishing boats bob in sheltered harbors, and heritage runs as deep as the coastal fog. This journey spans three provinces – Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick – each offering distinct landscapes and cultural threads woven from Acadian, Gaelic, Mi'kmaq, and Loyalist roots. Explore the colorful waterfront of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and walk windswept trails beside the sea-carved cliffs of the Fundy Trail Parkway. In Charlottetown, step into the pages of Anne of Green Gables, then savor oysters and mussels harvested just offshore. Watch the tide retreat beneath your feet at Hopewell Rocks, cruise Shediac Bay with a lobster trap demonstration, and sample sturgeon caviar in Saint John. From storytelling in Mi'kmaq territory to Prince Edward Island's red shores, this is a journey of vivid contrasts and quiet moments – where every stop brings you closer to the soul of the Maritimes. You'll be welcomed with genuine warmth by those who call these shores home – inviting you to experience the Maritimes not just as a place you visit, but as one that feels like home. Read Less

A castle by the sea

Timeless elegance – The Algonquin Resort St. Andrews by-the-Sea, Autograph Collection

Perched above the shimmering waters of Passamaquoddy Bay, The Algonquin Resort in St. Andrews by-the-Sea, New Brunswick, is a storied sanctuary where history and hospitality intertwine. Established in 1889, this Tudor Revival landmark has welcomed royalty, presidents, and discerning travelers seeking the restorative sea air and genteel charm of Canada's first seaside resort town. Though a fire in 1914 necessitated its reconstruction, the resort was swiftly rebuilt, preserving its iconic façade and enduring spirit. Today, after meticulous renovations, The Algonquin continues to enchant guests with its grand architecture, sweeping verandas, and panoramic views. Stroll through the town's historic streets, where Loyalist heritage is etched into the very layout, and explore the nearby Kingsbrae Garden or the St. Andrews Blockhouse. Amid the coastal serenity, a stay at The Algonquin is an immersion into a bygone era of elegance and tranquility.

Tide to Table: A Private Oyster Experience

The briny elegance of Raspberry Point Oysters

Set on the northern shores of Prince Edward Island, Raspberry Point Oyster Co. is renowned for cultivating some of the most sought-after oysters in North America. On your private visit, you'll meet the people behind this generational craft and learn how these oysters are grown, harvested, and graded – all shaped by the cold, clean waters of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. From seed to shuck, every step in the process reflects care, tradition, and a deep connection to place. As you sample a selection of freshly harvested oysters, the experience becomes more than a tasting – it's a celebration of terroir, tide, and time. With each briny bite, you'll taste the island itself, crisp and pure, just as nature intended.
