A private Sibelius concert in Helsinki

Day 7

Hear works by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in a private Tauck concert in Helsinki

Finnish national composer and violinist Jean Sibelius (1865-1957) created hundreds of pieces of music during his long life – which spanned the late-Romantic and early-modern periods – and is generally considered his country's greatest composer. His music, which included seven symphonies and a wide range of shorter works from songs to choral, instrumental and incidental pieces, was often inspired by Nordic mythology and Finnish folklore like the Kalevala, and helped foster his beloved Finland's national identity and eventual independence during the 19th and 20th centuries. Hear some of Sibelius' key works at a Tauck Exclusive private concert in Finland's capital, Helsinki.

Lunch in seaside Parnu, Estonia

Day 5

Enjoy lunch in Estonia's charming seaside resort town of Parnu, on the Gulf of Livonia in the Baltic Sea

Although it dates back to the 13th century and was once a trading member of the Hanseatic League during medieval times – and first gained popularity as a seaside resort during the 19th century – the Estonian town of Parnu on the Gulf of Livonia in the Baltic Sea has a distinctly modern vibe. Since Estonia's emergence as an independent nation after a half-century of occupation during World War II and the Cold War era, Parnu has become "Estonia's Summer Capital" and a true 21st-century resort destination, drawing travelers from the Baltic region and throughout Europe to music festivals and other annual events. Check it out as you stop for lunch here en route from Riga to Tallinn.

Ferry First Class from Tallinn to Helsinki

Day 6

Cruise in First Class across the Gulf of Finland on a high-speed ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki

While back in the day it took considerably longer to cross the Gulf of Finland – a highly strategic, finger-like body of water that extends eastward from the Baltic Sea to Russia's cultural capital, St. Petersburg – a speedy modern ferry can whisk you across the Gulf between Tallinn, Estonia and Helsinki, Finland in just a couple of hours. And that's just what happens as you enjoy first-class service (and lunch) while zipping across the Gulf from Tallinn to Helsinki aboard a high-speed craft.

We learned so much about this beautiful and historic part of the world that has had a very complicated history and tragic recent past.

Travel Requirements For This Tour

Travel Documents

All U.S. citizens require a valid passport to enter Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland and that passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of travel. (Please note that although adult passports are valid for a full ten years, children's passports require renewal every five years.) A visa is not required for U.S. citizens to visit Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Finland.

Non-U.S. citizens should check with the Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, and Finish  Embassies or Consulates to determine necessary travel documents.

It is a good idea to carry a photocopy of the photo page of your passport in a place other than with the original, and to leave a copy of all your travel documents with a friend or relative at home.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN AS A GUARDIAN: If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident. For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.) PLEASE NOTE THAT TAUCK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.
