Tauck Exclusive – Stories by Ken Burns

Days 2 – 7

Insights on The Vietnam War

Our development team worked with award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns, Lynn Novick and Sarah Botstein to bring personal insights, stories and themes from the PBS documentary series The Vietnam War to life in filmed on-tour vignettes – “Stories by Ken Burns” – produced exclusively for Tauck guests traveling on Indochina: Vietnam, Cambodia & Laos and Vietnam, Cambodia & Thailand.

Visit Cambodia's Ta Prohm Temple

Day 9

Angkor's Ta Prohm Temple... one with the jungle

The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor contains hundreds of temples and palaces built by Cambodia's Khmer people from the 9th – 15th centuries… all enveloped by forest until the early 20th century. Built in the 12th century as a Buddhist university and monastery, jungle-clad Ta Prohm Temple is one of Angkor’s gems. Left in the clutches of centuries-old vines, its delicate reliefs are covered by creeping plants and its massive stones are cleaved by green; the effect is otherworldly yet magnificent.

Chiang Mai's hill tribe villages

Day 12

Meet the hill tribe villagers of Chiang Mai in Thailand

Outside Thailand's city of Chiang Mai, the people of the region’s remote, rural hill tribes farm and observe traditional ways of life. Each tribe has its own language, beliefs, customs and crafts... and its people are happy to share them with visitors to their colorful villages. Meet members of the Palong, Padong and the “long-necked” Karen tribes, whose women are known for the distinctive, traditional brass rings worn around their necks – which you can try on yourself.

Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai

Nights 10, 11 and 12

A welcoming spirit in Chiang Mai

Nestled among emerald gardens and terraced rice fields, the spacious pavilions and luxury villas of Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai exude the vibrant, welcoming spirit of Northern Thailand. Revel in intriguing design details, from handpicked Siamese artwork to authentic Thai cotton furnishings. Polished teak floors and overhead cooling fans add a touch of classic tropical style. Each accommodation is crafted for outdoor living; large windows let in the lush vistas, while your open-air Thai veranda (sala) is ideal for immersing in the scenic surroundings.

Small Group Departures

Our small group departures, averaging just 24 guests, are designed for travelers who want more time to experience each destination up close and personally. One of the benefits of small group travel is the personalized service and attention you’ll enjoy. Small groups enable our Tauck Directors to spend more time in the places you explore with more opportunities to connect with them. Smaller groups foster camaraderie and lasting friendships among like-minded travelers; you'll engage more closely with local experts and enjoy enhanced insider access, ease of travel and freedom to linger longer.

Solo Traveler Savings

Traveling solo doesn't mean traveling alone – with Tauck, it means camaraderie on a journey with like-minded travelers who share similar interests, enjoying the spirit of travel that makes exploring the world a necessary part of life – and sharing the special travel experiences found on Tauck’s guided land trips and cruises that create lifetime memories. For 90+ years, solo travelers have found a special "travel" home with Tauck in destinations the world over – and we’re offering solo travelers an additional reason to travel with Tauck – special Solo Traveler Savings on select departures.

What you need to know

Before You Go

Required

Travel Documents, Booking and Deposits, and more

No matter where your destination may be, you should bring identification with you; a valid passport is always an appropriate form of identification. Contact your booking agent for information about all necessary documents required for your journey, such as passport and visa information or documentation required for transportation security measures.

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
