An Alaska family vacation of a lifetime...  Travel by land, sea and air on this incredible Alaska family vacation that is designed for every member of your family with on-tour film vignettes custom-made for Tauck by BBC Earth natural history experts plus other select BBC Earth touches. Your family's travels begin with one night in Anchorage, then it’s off to the northern interior for a jet boat ride, a wilderness hike, a geocaching treasure hunt and two nights at a wilderness lodge. Flightsee over Denali National Park

Day 4

Flightsee over Denali National Park

Weather permitting, your family takes to the air on a flightseeing excursion over the foothills of Denali National Park for a chance to view the ice-clad summit of Mt. McKinley. At 20,000+ ft., Mt. McKinley is the crown of the 600-mile Alaska Range. The Athabascan people dubbed the huge mountain “Denali,” meaning the “Great One,” and it more than lives up to the name. Soar over rugged peaks and beautiful, meandering glaciers on one of life's great adventures.

Outdoor family fun on the Kenai Peninsula, "Alaska's Playground"

Day 5

Kayak, River Raft or Hike

The mountains of the Kenai River Valley and the river’s bright waters provide the perfect setting for a day of outdoor family fun with something for every age and generation. The Kenai Peninsula is named "Alaska's Playground" as the outdoor possibilities are just about endless, including a five-mile guided wilderness hike, a lake kayaking adventure, or a river float trip.

Pan for Gold at Crow Creek Gold Mine

Day 6

Learn about "gold fever" when your family pans for gold at Crow Creek Gold Mine

Your family gets an authentic, hands-on opportunity to relive Alaska's historic Gold Rush at Crow Creek Gold Mine. Established in 1896, Crow Creek Mine is one of Alaska's most renowned hydraulic gold mining operations. Meet a prospector, work with gold pans, shovels, and buckets as you pan for gold and learn about the mine and the arts of gold panning and platinum prospecting – and end your visit with a barbecue lunch.

The thing that inspired me was the sled dogs... one day, I’ll be a sled dog musher.

Before You Go

Travel Documents, Booking and Deposits, and more

No matter where your destination may be, you should bring identification with you; a valid passport is always an appropriate form of identification. Contact your booking agent for information about all necessary documents required for your journey, such as passport and visa information or documentation required for transportation security measures.

Important Information

Health and Activity

You'll find Activity and Pace Levels on all of our trips to give you a better idea of physical activity level – higher numbers mean a more active journey. To fully enjoy most journeys, you should be in good health and able to walk reasonable distances; some of the most memorable sightseeing can only be accomplished on foot and may include unpaved and uneven surfaces. Please consult your physician for pre-departure health advice.

Protect Your Travel Investment

Deposit Protection Plan

Deposit Protection Plan – Tauck provides a “Deposit Protection Plan” at a cost of AUD $75 per person per tour or cruise. The cost is non-refundable and non-transferable and must be paid at the time of booking with your deposit. It only applies when you cancel your tour or cruise prior to final payment date. The deposit held in credit will exclude fees imposed by third parties in relation to air, rail travel, hotels, transfer or applicable cruise cabins. When booking airfares through Tauck (including when taking advantage of a special offer that includes air travel), standard airline cancellation fees will apply. In some cases, airfares will be non-refundable. In the event of cancellation, these fees will be deducted from the deposit paid, and therefore the credit being held. We will only credit the remainder of deposit to a future tour or cruise booking if you book within 24 months of cancellation of the original Tauck tour or cruise. This offer expires after the 24 months. We will only credit the remainder of the deposit to a future tour or cruise booking Balance Due and it can’t be used as a credit for the initial deposit of a future tour or cruise booking. The Tauck “Deposit Protection Plan” only covers a Tauck tour or cruise and it does not replace Travel Insurance, which we recommend at the time of booking.
